There are a whole host of benefits when using a compounding pharmacy. For one, it allows for medications to be tailored entirely to your needs.
The good news is, the community of Bellingen have this expertise on their doorstep at the Bellingen Pharmacy.
The pharmacy goes well beyond the run-of-the-mill drug store.
There's not just a regular dispensary; with the recent installation of their new compounding lab, they can now offer more complex compounding than ever before.
Medications are made from scratch onsite and this means they can be personalised just for you, whether it be dose, flavour, preservative preference or dose form.
At one time, all medications were compounded. However, with the advent of mass drug manufacturing, the role of compounding declined and pharmacists were seen more as drug dispensers. Over the recent decades though, technology advancements and the rise of innovative techniques have allowed pharmacists to customise medications.
A compounding pharmacy can give access to discontinued medications, make medication allergy-friendly and provide an individually tailored dosage.
A major upside is that it can make medication easier to use, this is especially handy when dealing with patients who may refuse medication, like young children.
“I have taken a particular interest in making kids medicines palatable and easy for the parents.” Pharmacist Scott Myers said.
“One thing the kids love is to be able to choose their own flavour, tutti frutti and chocolate are just some of the flavours we offer.”
“Freddie is definitely the man to ask about what creams are best and whether you need an individualised one created just for you.”
“Alex Seaman has also gained his compounding accreditation, so now all three of us can offer complex compounding medicines.”
From production, councilling, integration and on-going checks; we offer a comprehensive service.

Medication reviews are available to help ensure you are taking the right medicines, and that you're taking them correctly. They also offer home reviews, so the pharmacist can visit you in the comfort of your own home.
Don’t forget they are open on Sundays, 10am - 1pm.
