Students from Willawarrin Public, Green Hill Public, Bellbrook Public and Medlow Public School’s gathered at Willawarrin today where they engaged in a range of different science experiments.
Teacher from Willawarren Public School Ashleigh Field said the day was about bringing the small schools together to celebrate science.
“It’s really about getting the kids excited about science during National Science Week,” she said.
The students were placed in groups and moved to different stations, experiencing a large range of science experiments throughout the morning before moving onto sense tester challenges in the afternoon.
The experiments included:
- Balloon rockets
- colour – magic milk, mentos, walking rainbow
- Bubble snacks
- Volcano
- Floating and sinking objects
- Magnets
- Human body
- Sherbet making
- Weather – cloud in a cup, tornado in a jar
- PHL testing in soil
- Lava lamps
- Slime cornflour
- Microscopes – including digital camera connected to and iPad
