The five groups that received funding are Vision Australia, Life Education NSW, Crescent Head Community Garden Incorporated, Home-Start National and Epilepsy Australia.
The local clubs in involved in the Community Club Grants contributed $8000 in funding for the grants.
CEO of Kempsey Macleay RSL Club, Daniel Abela, said being involved in the Club Grants is rewarding for the club.
“All local clubs give to charities throughout the year, but everyone goes above and beyond the required amount. Being able to give funding to different groups and clubs in the community is really rewarding,” he said.
“Having a system where there are applications for the funding and then all of the clubs getting together to make sure the money is going to the right people, it works really well.”
The funding will be used in a range of ways to benefit the community, Vision Australia will be putting their $1620 in funding towards an orientation and mobility service, Life Education will be using $2000 to enable disadvantaged students to benefit from Life Education, Crescent Head Community Garden received $1380 that will go towards beginning the process of the garden in the town, Home-Start National will use their $1000 to provide books to 100 children in Kempsey and Epilepsy Australia, who received $2000, will implement a program that will enhance the lives of locals living with epilepsy.
Mr Abela said seeing the results of the funding is rewarding.
“A year on from receiving the funding and hearing what it has gone towards and how it has helped different groups is a great thing to see. The clubs in the area are very supportive and go above what is expected in regards to funding,” Mr Abela said.
