The main event, the division one grand final, will be held at 3pm with the defending premiers and this year’s minor premiers the Saints Comets Hailey’s facing off with Natureland Force.
The Comets have set the benchmark over the past two seasons and led from the front this season.
“Our team has had a great season and we have been pretty consistent as we have been on top of the ladder for most of it,” Comets team representative Melissa Keast said.
“We have had a couple of tough games due to players being away, playing short and under strength but overall it has been very consistent year for us which shows as we get to defend our 2017 title.”
Meanwhile the Natureland Force, who finished the season in third position, have started to hit their straps at the right time of the year.
“The fact that we are a new team this year, with many new players who have come back after having a few years off,” Natureland team representative Lisa Daley said.
“It took a few weeks to gel as a team but overall we are more than happy with the season we have had and the hard work has paid off.”
The Comets got the better of the Force throughout the regular season, as they won both clashes.
In the first meeting, the Comets raced away to a large victory. However, the second contest was a close battle as the Force began to find their form.
“They have been a tough side to crack this year. When we played them in the second round we got within around six of them and that was playing short with just six players on the day, so we definitely have improved over the season and can hopefully make it third time lucky against them on Saturday,” Daley said.
The Comets are hopeful the stability within their side will be the difference maker.
“We have pretty much the same team as last year. It’s been great to stay together as we are all good friends, who enjoy playing as a team,” Keast said.
“It would mean a lot to us all to win another grand final, It’s the ultimate achievement and to go back-to-back would be even better.”
Before the division one battle, juniors and lower senior grades will take to the courts.
