With the touchdown recently of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter on Macksville’s footy fields, and having had a former key staff member needing to use the services of the chopper, local businessman, Tony Smith from Midcoast Trucks, jumped at the chance to support this life-saving service by co-sponsoring a transport industry charity Golf Day in August at the Bonville International Golf Club.

Transport businesses from all over NSW took part in the event, fundraising for the event, sponsoring prizes, making donations and submitting teams, with all profits going directly to the Northern Region Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
It was during the course of the very successful day, when discussing the service with Westpac Rescue Helicopter representative, Jane Wayland, that Tony dug even deeper and donated a further $2,500 to the Service.
“It [the Westpac Rescue Helicopter] is such a vital service, and knowing someone first hand who owes their life to the service really enforces the value and need to continue providing such an important amenity to the region.” Tony said.
A successful event by any means, the Charity Day raised a total of $10,300 for the chopper.
