Council holds quarterly Community Catch-ups in towns and villages across the shire. The meetings are designed to be less formal than a Council meeting and involve the Mayor, Councillors and senior Council staff out in the community inspecting sites of interest, answering questions and building relationships with residents.
Council’s engagement website, Your Say Macleay, allows residents to stay informed and have a say on Council projects.
The website is updated with information about each Community Catch-up and prior to each meeting residents can fill out a form with questions or topics they would like to see discussed.
There is also an interactive map where residents can drag a pin to point out areas they believe require a site visit by councillors and council staff.
Council’s General Manager, Craig Milburn, encourages residents, businesses or those with a vested interest in Gladstone or Smithtown to attend the catch-up meeting this week.
“These meetings are a great way for residents to let us know what they would like to see happen in their part of the Macleay and how they can work with Council,” Mr Milburn said.
“I encourage residents to provide feedback ahead of the meeting on Your Say Macleay as it allows Councillors and staff to arrive at a meeting with details on a specific matter to ensure that discussions are relevant and effective.”
Residents are encouraged to attend the Gladstone/Smithtown Community Catch-up on Wednesday, September 26 from 5pm to 7pm at the Smithtown Hall located at 26 Main Street.
The final catch-up for 2018 will be held in Willawarrin on Wednesday, December 5.
