I'D LIKE to thank all those in the Macleay Valley who donated food, hygiene products and cash to ‘Doing it For Our Farmers’. During the 21 days, spread over five weeks, Dorothy and a host of others helped collect 24-plus trailer loads of goods and $6025.20 cash.

I'd also like to thank Allan Mainey for his $250 donation in the form of a discount. Rohan and Jody Simpson of Central IGA for allowing us to purchase 300kg of onions and 100kg of sweet potatoes at cost. A lady also donated a large trolley load of pumpkins and squash which was exceptionally generous.
It is impossible to ignore the generosity of the pensioners who gave, gave and gave again.
The goodness of the people of Kempsey who gave to the drive is the best thing I have seen in a long time.
A special thanks to Julie LaBrok, Maxine and Kalene for allowing us to store the goods prior to delivery to the farmers, and to the two gentlemen, both named John, who purchased a gazebo to protect us and the food from the sun, and the assistance from the Kempsey Shire Council.
After paying for the potatoes and onions, we were left with $4,415.20 that we were able to turn over to Sandra Wilson and John Laidlaw, the organisers of ‘Doing It For Our Farmers’ to pay drivers for fuel to deliver the food to the farmers.
I must apologise for being late with my letter of thanks, at least we have helped keep the farmers alive. I am so proud of Kempsey.
Last but not least I'd like to give a special thank you to Dorothy who was my co-worker/scrutiniser. This wouldn't have been a success without her.
