Kempsey South Public School holds first ever colour explosion fun run

The fund, which is named to honour Paul Davis-Welsh, was created to support their students who are participating in representative sporting competitions.

Luckily the rain that drizzled over the Macleay Valley earlier this week faded long enough for the event to go forward. 

Assistant Principal and organiser of the Colour Explosion Sharyn Blackwell said the weather for the event was perfect.

The students were soaked in water before they ran by their teachers who covered them with various coloured powder as they did laps of the make-shift track constructed on the oval.

An extra obstacle course and tunnel generously created by the school community was a welcome addition and added to the atmosphere of the day. 

Kempsey South Public School has always managed its own fundraising, but with the extensive volunteer work involved in their annual fete, organisers opted to bring in professional fundraisers Australian Fundraising.

Overall, the school raised around $3000 to go towards funding sporting competitions.

Students of Year 5 and 6 are at the top of the fundraising leader board, with their courageous fundraising of $825.

Not to be outdone, grade K1 is right behind them-having raised only a few dollars less.

“We’re hoping to hold the Colour Explosion next year and to have the parents involved,”  Ms Blackwell said.
