The Year 6 student showcased his strength to advance to the statewide competition.
Aidan’s mother Nicole Lilly is incredible proud of her son.
“I think this is a huge accomplishment for a student of such a tiny school and I am extremely proud,” Nicole told the Argus.
Aidan is a natural talent at shot put and has only recently started training seriously.
“Aidan has had no formal training and he was recently given an old shot put from antoher local state champion in discuss Mikaela Donovan,” Nicole said.
“The shot put allows him to train at home every afternoon.
“I think the recent determination and dedication has made him so successful.”
Aidan is looking forward to competing on the stage where Olympians once stood.
“He can’t wait to go to Sydney, he said the opportunity to compete where Olympians have is enough for him,” Nicole said.
“Aidan also wants to make his school and the whole of the Macleay Valley proud.”
Aidan will compete in the shot put competition at the Olympic Centre at Homebush at the end of October.
