The ‘Finding the Right Staff for My Business’ workshop will be held at the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club on Tuesday October 30 as part of Small Business Month celebrations organised by Kempsey Shire Council.
Addressing the findings from a recent survey which revealed that 50 per cent of small businesses struggle to find the right skilled workers to fill open positions, the workshop will feature strategies that successful local businesses use to recruit and retain staff.
Guest speaker and Executive Care Manager at NVC Group, Jenny Zirkler, said it was vital that small and medium businesses have a comprehensive staffing plan.
“Businesses need to wisely invest in staff, training them in the skills they need to be effective employees long into the future,” Ms Zirkler said.
“It’s also important to have clear strategies on how to get people interested in working for your business and supporting them as they learn.”
Director of Kempsey Children’s Services, Rebecca Minter, will speak on working collaboratively to attract and retain staff, followed by Employer Liaison Officer at the Department of Jobs and Small Businesses Mark Almond, who will discuss employment trends and opportunities.
The workshop will be facilitated by business expert John Goddard, with the format following presentation sessions and a Q&A panel discussion.
