“What we have received from them and their efforts fills a gap for us between what we need and what we can get,” mother Nicole said.
For the second year in a row Woolworths Nambucca Heads has raised the most in the state for Variety – The Childrens Charity. This year the sum was an incredible $13,000 over their five week campaign of raffles, community BBQs, in-store breakfasts and lunches, and gold coin donation dress up days for Woolworths team members.
Team member Brodie Cowling said it had been incredible to see the generosity of the staff and the community.
“I put in the request to do this and then its a matter of creating the events – the Fresh Fare weekend was a big one plus we’ve had tearoom morning teas and lunches – all those coins add up,” Brodie said.
Across NSW and ACT stores the total raised for Variety this year was over $1.3 million, which will be presented as a cheque to Variety at the Woolworths Charity Ball.
All funds go directly to Variety to help support thousands of local children and families who are facing challenges through sickness, disadvantage and disabilities, such as eight-year-old Tiana.
She has been diagnosed with Spastic Quadriplegic, Cerebral Palsy and Cortical Blindness. Variety has recently presented her with a Buddy Postura Standing Frame to give her secure postural support whilst standing and also boost her self-esteem, confidence and alertness.
Previously fundraising efforts meant she received a DMO suit which gives a non-restrictive and highly effective level of support to maximise postural stability.
Woolworths Nambucca Heads Store Manager, Daniel Graves said: “We are so proud that we are able to continue providing support to the children and their families.
“This year, our store has raised close to $13,000 which is an amazing effort by both our dedicated team and generous customers. It has been heartwarming to see response and we couldn’t have raised this record-breaking amount without their help and ongoing support.”
