In their first game of the season, Thomas Paix’s century and Matthew Powick’s (52) half century set the platform for the victory.
The two combined for a 165-run partnership and scored the majority of Macleay Valley’s total as they set Manning C.A a target of 276.
Macleay Valley’s slick bowling attacking ensure Manning were never a chance of earning the victory as Jonte Ross (4/18) and Cooper Petterson (2/12) combined to pick up the majority of the wickets.
It was a similar story in Macleay Valley’s second game, as they scored runs with ease and never gave their opponents an opportunity when the Macleay side were given the ball.
The strong opening batting line up of Jack Wakely (67), Jonte Ross (42), Beau Mainey (unbeaten 36) and Thomas Paix (unbeaten 58) led Macleay Valley to a total of 2/223 off their 45 overs.
Jonte Ross (5/19) backed up his batting effort to be the pick of the bowlers as he helped restrict the Hastings Sixers to 96 and dismiss them in the 33rd over.
Macleay Valley Under-14s coach Ben Paix was impressed with his side’s first two performances but is weary of their next opponent.
“It was two strong wins from our boys,” Paix said.
“But I am expecting a tough match next round as the Port team have some quality bowlers that will test our top order who have been outstanding to date.”
Meanwhile the Macleay Valley Under-12s have split their opening two games of the season.
Macleay Valley struggled with the bat in their opening fixture against the Hastings. Macleay managed only 70 runs in reply to Hastings’ total of 152.
However, they bounced back strongly to earn a 25-run over the Manning Striped Marlins.
Thomas Powick (59) and Riley Mtichell (27) combined to score the majority of the runs while Powick also did the most damage with the ball, picking up three wickets from his six overs.
In the Under-16s competition, which has three teams, Macleay Valley suffered a loss in their opening game and had a bye for round two.
On the back of Lachlan Dowling (64), Dylan Mann (33), Mitch Korn (29) and Nic Hughes (29) Macleay Valley set Hastings a total of 212 to chase after their 50 overs.
Hastings were able to reach the total with ease, surpassing the target in the 38th over with six wickets remaining.
The representative players now return to club level to compete before returning for a representative match against the Hastings Thunder on December 2 at Wayne Richards Park.
