Glenna has published two novels with Penguin Random House and has written a third. Today she spoke about her process as a writer and delved into her two novels, titled Blueberry and Stella and Margie.
Glenna said speaking at small events like today’s are more enjoyable than larger events.
“Everyone at these smaller events like reading books and we share something in common,” she said.
“You’ve got a willing audience here, it makes it easier.”
Glenna spoke of the themes of her two novels, where she draws her inspiration from and her process of turning an idea into a novel.
“Most of my work is drawn from life experiences and events.”
Glenna hadn’t been involved in writing creatively previous to her first book in 2017. After raising her children and relocating to a cattle farm in north-east Victoria with her husband, she found she had the time to write.
“We purchased a blueberry orchid next to our cattle farm and that’s where I got the inspiration for my first novel,” she said.
Locals enjoyed the light refreshments provided by Kempsey Library and the insight into an author’s creative process.
“It’s such a positive experience for me to speak at small events like this and talk about my experience as an author.”
Both of Glenna Thomson’s novels are available at all bookstores and online.
