The plan aims to reduce the likelihood of loss of life and property by providing information for residents and emergency services to help improve their bushfire preparation and response.
The plan includes a Bushfire Survival Map that shows information people may use to make appropriate decisions about whether to defend their property or leave for a safer location ahead of or during a fire. A Preparation Map that shows planned bushfire mitigation work is also produced.
Draft copies of the Fernmount Survival and Preparation Maps can be viewed on the NSW RFS website at www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/plan-and-prepare/know-your-risk/community-protection-plans/draft-community-protection-plans
Community Protection Plans for Mylestom and Repton are also under development.
NSW RFS staff will be visiting residents in Mount Street, Pulsford Place and McDougall Place to talk about their individual properties and discuss the plan December 10-14.
For more information or input into the plan, please contact Dan Gibson from NSW RFS Planning and Environmental Services – North on (02) 6691 0400 or daniel.gibson@rfs.nsw.gov.au
