The ‘Not Our way’ campaign was launched in October and aims to target drug fuelled crime in the local area.
Organiser of the event senior constable and crime prevention officer, Steve Cherry, said the barbecue was organised following a PAC meeting in October.
“There was a request from the community to hold a barbecue to discuss the issues of drugs and crime in the area,” he said.
“The barbecue will aim to promote healthy choices and a safer community in Kempsey.”
The event will feature information stalls, life style information, giveaways, a Koori Cook Off and free sausage sandwiches.
“It’s also going to be a place to talk about these issues in the area. It will offer a better and healthier alternative to drugs and alcohol.”
Locals are invited to attend the community barbecue at Kempsey Riverside Park on Tuesday December 18 from 5pm to 7pm.
