Instead, Ms Humphris looks forward to seeing her unique ponytail plant begin to flower.
Ms Humpris moved into her property on Harold Walker Avenue 20 years ago and not long after planted the ponytail tree.
It too more than 17 years but eventually the plant began to flower and Ms Humpris believes it’s majestic.
“You have to show them a lot of care and love and it took a very long time but three years ago it began to flower,” Ms Humpris said.
“It will last about four weeks and I think it’s beautiful. The bees do as well, they love the flowers.”
Ms Humphris claims she hasn't seen any other ponytail trees in the region but would like to know if there are.
“It’s quite a rare tree to have,” Ms Humphris said. “Because it takes so long to flower and you have to put in a lot of work, not many people want to have it.”
The ponytail tree is an evergreen plant that is native to specific eastern areas of America’s Mexico.
