Five students from St Paul’s College Kempsey enjoyed a lunch at the school and discussed their results with teachers.
Principal Kevin Lewis said he is very proud of all of the Year 12 students who studied hard and received their ATAR.
“We’re a very tight knit school and to see the students come out on the other side of this is incredible,” he said.
“We’ve had two significant tragedies this year, but the students were able to continue with their studies and not one of them asked for special consideration.”
50 students from St Paul’s sat for the ATAR with 30 being offered early entry to university. Three students received a score of 90.00 or above. Harley Thackray 93.55, James Walker 90.75 and Mariah Allan 90.70.
Harley Thakray was awarded Dux of St Paul’s College for 2018 with an ATAR of 93.55, the same as his sister Franchesca achieved last year.
“We’re very proud of them, they’ve done so well,” Mr Lewis said.
Overall the College achieved 5 Band 6 results (90 marks or higher) and 47 Band 5 results (80-89 marks) making it one of the more dedicated groups in recent years.
Across the state 16.7 per cent of students received an ATAR of 90.00 or above, 33.3 per cent received an ATAR of at least 80.00 and 49.5 per cent at least 70.00.
