The 10-year-old was presented with his award by Acting Regional Commissioner for Cub Scouts, Fiona Roach and First Kempsey Cub Scout Leader Darren Casey.
The requirement for the Grey Wolf badge, which is the transition phase to becoming a scout, is leadership of the Cub Scout pack.
Obtaining the Grey Wolf badge involves being awarded the Gold Boomerang, attending a series of outdoor activities, two pack councils, obtaining four level two Achievement Badges with one from each of the different categories, a Special Interest Badge and creating a resource or game that can be presented to your pack.
The Grey Wolf hike is also involved where the cub must plan and lead a walk, with at least three cubs following, for a minimum of two kilometres and for approximately two hours.
The hike is one of the biggest challenges and one of the most important things needed to complete the Grey Wolf Award.
Kempsey Scouts, Cub Scouts and Joey Scouts all joined together at the first Kempsey Scout Hall recently to honour Kyle’s achievement.
The occasion was celebrated with a formal presentation within the pack with family and friends.
Kyle planned and led a hike around Hat Head NP and had fun on many scouting camps. As part of his work, Kyle took part in Orama Canoe Fun Day, Cuborama held at Glenreigh in May 2018, Anzac Day and Rememberance Day and a Cub Scout Leadership Camp.
Kyle is very grateful and appreciates the time, commitment and dedication of the leaders who encouraged and supported him to reach his goal.
