The festival screened over 200 films during the week from 28 countries (America, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, Paraguay, UK, France, Germany, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Malaysia, India, Iraq, Philippines, South Africa, Kenya and Australia).
“The competition was fierce,” Chris said, “with so many quality films from all over the world competing for the limited awards. I was floored when we won the two awards.”
“Moron is a unique film. It is a hybrid film of a live rock musical. It is the first and only film of its type to be produced in Australia to date. It does have a very special appeal to viewing audiences because it is so different.”

Milan is the 10th country and the 13th international film festival which has selected, nominated and/or awarded The Island of Doctor Moron this year. The film has also screened in six States in Australia.
“The festival selections and awards help us on our path to our ultimate goal which is raising the capital to produce the live show again in an international venue,” Chris said.
“Such world-wide acceptance, recognition and awards for the film are proof that the show has a unique appeal to a wide and diverse demographic. So many people from all over the world who have seen the film have commented that they would love to see the live show which is most encouraging.”
Chris stressed he is still willing to do screenings for his local community. “We will never forget the support we received from Kempsey people in the early days of the ‘Moron Project’ when they came down to Sydney by the bus loads to see the live show.”
