While in the Nambucca Op Shop one afternoon before Christmas Georgie came across “a fantastic antique timber carving that I just had to have.”
“I doubt if there is too many around because the timber sections were made by hand and by a lathe,” George said.
“The markings are still evident and unmistakably made by hand, by an old timber craftsman, and not manufactured. May have been from a deceased estate!”
“Hopefully some of our locals give any information they have on the wood carving, so I can complete any history that may go with it.
“Such as who it belonged to, who created it, and perhaps when it was made and for whom?” George said.
The item appears to be an antique hand carved and turned timber fruit or dip bowl server, in the shape of a flower, with 12 detachable petals for individual (plates) servings for 12 people.
George has described it as a unique and ingenious wood carving and turning entertaining combination by a master wood craftsman.
Anyone with information regarding the origins or design of the serving platter can contact George on 04189 64095.
