Participants, old and young, are invited to walk, jog, run or push, their way from the park to Florence Wilmont Dr and back … or as far as they are able.
“It’s all about having activities that can involve as many people as possible and are fun,” Nambucca Heads Lions Club president Grahame Beaton said.
“It’s not about winning, there will be prizes for everyone – there will also be drink points along the way and a courtesy bus to pick people up, so no-one needs to exhaust themselves.”
The day will also include a river pageant, as well as games for children and an opportunity for community clubs to publicise their activities.
“The afternoon is reserved for the children with lots of good old-fashioned games like sack races and gumboot throwing. There will be a lucky dip – the big box is already overflowing with goodies donated by local businesses, nearly all of them, in town.”
Grahame said there would also be a mega raffle with first prize of $1000 cash.
All monies raised on the day will go towards the new Bellwood Park Shelter, for which the club has received $12,000 under the community grants program.
“We noticed the need down there for more shade, especially in summer. There were people queuing for the barbeques, so there are more in the plan plus tables. We are waiting on final council approval.”
