Ray had been involved with Surf Life Saving for more than half a century and first gained his Bronze Medallion in 1954 at Wanda Surf Life Saving Club in the Cronulla Shire.
Ray continued to be involved in all aspects of the Surf Life Saving movement for the rest of his life.
The dedicated volunteer was monumental in establishing the Cape Hawke Surf Life Saving Club and was awarded the first life membership of the Cape Hawke SLSC.
Ray moved to the South West Rocks region 16-years-ago and immediately continued his life long love of Surf Life Saving at the local club.
Ray was a coach, an officiator and held multiple committee positions at both club and branch level during his time with the club.
At the time of his passing, Ray was the current Director of Surf Sports for the Mid North Coast Branch.
Ray's funeral was held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church at South West Rocks on Monday January 14.
In attendance were leading officials from NSW Surf Life Saving Australia and Australia Surf Life Saving, as well as leading political figures.
