Cooper received the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club’s sportsperson of the Month award for his achievements in July.
The 13-year-old was a standout performer for the NSW Cyclones at the Indoor Cricket National Championships held last year.
Cooper stoodout with the ball in hand while he racked up the runs while he was at the crease.
Cooper helped lead his side to a fourth place finish and he finished the national competition with the eighth best statistics in his age group.
On the back of his standout performances, the cricket prodigy earned selection into the Australian Under-13s side to compete at the 2018 Junior World Series in New Zealand.
Cooper once again performed at a high level and was recognised as one of the best fielders at the tournament.
Cooper’s parents were incredibly proud of their son and were overcome by emotion when witnessing Cooper sing the national anthem ahead of representing his country.
“Watching Cooper stand arm in arm with his teammates dressed in the green and golf for Australia definitely was a tear jerking moment and a time to remember and cherish,” Cooper’s mother Julianne said.
“To know that listening to all those balls he bowls against the wall in the house, along with the broken glasses, was all worth it.”
Cooper’s representative honours didn’t stop in the indoor arena as he recently represented North Coast and NSW Country at consecutive outdoor cricket carnivals.
The opening bowler was superb at holding down an end, restricting his opponent’s run rate and picking up crucial wickets.
The youngster also recently made his first grade debut and dismissed three batsmen.
Julianne expressed the family’s gratitude towards the businesses and people who have helped support Cooper’s dreams.
“A massive thanks to the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club, the Crescent Head Country Club and Coastline Credit Union, who have all helped Cooper attend the representative carnivals,” she said.
“We also want to thank Rovers Cricket Club and the Macleay Indoor Cricket Centre, who have helped develop Cooper’s skills, along with many other local cricketers.”
The Kempsey Macleay RSL Club presented Cooper with a $500 voucher to spend at their restaurant.
