On Tuesday, Minister for Planning and Housing, Anthony Roberts and the Member for Oxley, Melinda Pavey, announced $196,218 for a new children's playground in Bowraville.
Mr Roberts said the funding was part of the NSW Government’s $20 million 'Everyone Can Play' program which supports more play spaces for local communities.
“Everyone can play gives everyone, no matter how young or old, their age, abilities and cultural backgrounds fair and equal access to play spaces, Mr Roberts said.
“It's about creating places that are more inclusive for the whole community. This funding will create a play space that will become a core community asset and part of everyday life in Bowraville.”
Mrs Pavey said Nambucca Shire Council was one of 30 councils selected in the first round of the program to share in $4 million to upgrade or create local play spaces.
“This is great news for Bowraville, the new playground will also be within easy reach of the playing fields and other amenities at Hennessey Tape oval using new connecting pathways, so families can easily enjoy all of the facilities,” she said.
“This is a fantastic boost for local families and kids, as it will support the kind of open spaces and physical activity our communities want, places that are accessible to all and help keep us connected.”
