Reid won season five of the Network Ten reality TV show on Sunday, ahead of Gogglebox star Yvie Jones and former Hawthorn AFL star Shane Crawford.
Australia's go-to man for all things celebrity collected $100,000 for beyondblue after spending time in the African jungle for the show.
"Even if you are not depressed or have anxiety, go to beyondblue. Just give them a look. It'll change your life. The jungle will change your life, it's changed mine," he said accepting his crown.
Reid's quick wit and banter helped him and his peers survive the challenges of the jungle from snakes to creepy crawlies and a diet of rice and beans.
Reid shared his battle with the booze, his mother's journey of bipolar, and overcame fears of confined spaces and snakes during his time in the jungle.
"I have built a career on my happy persona. I am a happy guy but I have some dark, dark times - depression and a crazy anxiety and insecurity," he said.
"Every day 200 people try to take their own lives in Australia and eight of them succeed, that's one too many. If I can shine a light on that I will have helped just a little bit."
Beyondblue chief executive Georgie Harman said Reid had been a joy to watch and was thrilled how he'd embraced jungle life, and shone a light on depression and anxiety.
Runner-up Jones said Reid was "hilarious and fabulous" and she was delighted to have been in series with him.
Crawford, who came third, said either of his peers could have won.
"You have got the king and queen there. Simple as that," he said.
