Set for late February, with potential to run over into early March, the course is designed to teach all the latest lifesaving techniques.
“It’s a nationally recognised course and offers a nationally recognised certification. During the course you can enhance your personal water survival skills and learn the techniques to carry out water rescues safely,” Nambucca Heads club secretary Chris Stewart said.
Participants will learn everything from first aid, board rescue and resuscitation techniques to the more physical requirements involved.
“It involves a run swim run and a 400m swim in the pool, participants will also learn effective CPR techniques,” Stewart said
While there are no pre-requisites to take part in the course, there is an age requirement.
“It's 15 and over, but everyone is welcome, we can offer a Surf Rescue Certificate for 13s, and they can upgrade it to a bronze when they turn 15.”
Anybody interest in doing the course can contact club secretary Chris Stewart on 0478 601 793 or email at chrisstewart@westnet.com.au.
