Frank Clancy, the most senior male member, was given the honour of cutting the cake with club stalwarts Margaret Sergeant and Mavis Lees who work tirelessly for the club. They were all honoured with Volunteer pins at the official celebration.
Other members honoured for their volunteer service were Lyn Carter, Loretta Gallagher, Maxine McKenzie, and Ted Chivers. Anybody interested in helping out at the club is urged to get in touch immediately, the club needs new volunteers, and new members are always welcome.
The Kookaburra Day Club meets every Friday from 9:30 to 12:30 at the Memorial Hall in York Lane. Seniors are invited to come along and enjoy a relaxing morning mixing with other seniors playing cards, bingo and trivia. Lunch and morning tea are provided at the cost of $6. For further information, call Ev Jacobs on 0418 463 278. Transportation can be arranged if needed.
