The opportunity to progress to The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition has been a goal of Elizabeth's since she was crowned Kempsey Showgirl a year ago.

Elizabeth has been involved in the Kempsey Show Society for a number of years and often competes in the Equestrian section. A Kempsey local, Elizabeth is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws at the University of New England and works full-time at NSW Fair Trading.

Throughout her time as Kempsey Showgirl Elizabeth has helped raise money for drought-affected farmers, and in July last year held a bake sale and 100 Club at the Kempsey Stock and Land Annual Bull and Female Stud Sale where $1723 was raised.

Elizabeth also organised the 2018 Kempsey Showgirl Ball in November and around 200 locals attended and dug deep for charity, raising more than $18,300 on the night.

She will now represent Kempsey Show Society at The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl competition next month after being selected at the Zone 1 finals on Saturday.

Elizabeth is the first Kempsey Showgirl to progress to the Sydney stage of the competition since 2010.

"Words can't describe how excited I am," Ms Jackson said.

"It's very exciting and also a relief because it was a goal of mine to make it to the Sydney stage of the competition.

"The Showgirl competition is more like a development program rather than a competition. I have developed so many important skills that will assist me later in life such as interview skills, networking, public speaking and personal presentation. It's also boosted my personal confidence."

Elizabeth will be attending the Sydney Royal Easter Show from April 9 to April 15. Winners of the competition will be announced on April 14 with a presentation at Government House.

There are seven zones across NSW with 13 Showgirls progressing to the Sydney stage of the competition.

"I'd really love to win, it would be amazing, but I just want to enjoy the experience. I'm really looking forward to it," Ms Jackson said.

"It's a 12-month commitment if I do win, it will involve travelling to shows around the state and being present as well as awarding Champions at shows and attending judging.

"What I've really wanted to showcase this year is the importance of the Kempsey Showgirl competition. You don't need to be from a farm, you just need to have an interest in your local community and an interest in current affairs," Ms Jackson said.

"The Showgirl Competition is often misrepresented, and I would love to see it grow because Kempsey has so many great young ladies who would succeed."

Kempsey will be holding the local Showgirl competition for 2019 on April 27. The competition is now open, the forms can be found on the Kempsey Show website.
