It has been a year since their last Mem Hall gig, and frontman Stu wants to keep the bridge of unity happening in Gumbaynggirr Jagun (homeland).
Local blues and roots artist Joe Newton will share the stage and the Gunganbuwala Singing and Rhythm Group will provide a beautiful welcome.
Projection artist, Muzz will light the hall and our Traditional Owners will share their blessing of unity, safety and country.
Promoter Bernard Kelly-Edwards is passionate about OKA's positive influence and vibrations.
"OKA deliver much more than music, it's about what's vibrating through under the umbrella of unity with country each other and ourselves," he said.
OKA's music has been described as Electro Dreamtime. Internationally renowned, OKA have shared the bill with Fat Freddy's Drop, Santana, Sting and Yothu Yindi. OKA lives on their indigenous connection to place and country to create their signature feel good Australian earth sound. A mashup of dance, and downtempo beats marinated in the spirit of the Dreamtime, Community, Culture and Country.
Homegrown singer songwriter Joe Newton is lyrically attuned to OKA"s message with his earthy, blues and roots tunes born from the tops of the Dorrigo plateau.
Also on the bill are the Gunganbuwala Singing and Rhythm Group, "a living example of Unity" says Bernard.
The group grew from the friendship of Michael Jarrett (Gumabynggirr linguist) and Luke Rhodes, and their idea of combining the teaching of language and music. The group comes together for the joy of learning, creating and singing together, thereby honouring the Gumbaynggirr people and language of this land.
Come along, be blessed with Gumbaynggirr Jagun and drop into the flowing space with music to make you happy, created by OKA for all to enjoy.
Doors open at 6pm, this is a no alcohol event, children under 13 are free, young people 13-18 $10.
Tickets are $20 and available at https://okamusic.com/tour-dates-tix or $25 at the door.
