This was the school's ninth year of entering the competition and the 30 students came away with a number of impressive wins.

"Last year we were really successful and we've done it again this year, it's been pretty much back to back for us with the wins we've had," Kempsey High Agricultural teacher Gavin Saul said.

"It really shows the depth of the passion the students have."

Kempsey High School were crowned champion team in the ICMJ competition group of four, consisting of Liam Whalen, Tom Harwood, Alex Schofield and Ruby Weismantel.

Liam Whalen took out overall champion in the beef judging section while Ruby Weismantel placed as reserve champion in the ICMJ individual section.

In the beef appreciation section Ruby Weismantel, Liam Whalen, Alex Schofield and Paton Simpson were awarded champion team of four while Ruby and Alex took out individual champion and reserve respectively.

"We really looked at what we needed to improve on for this year and were able to do that with a lot of hard work," Ruby said.

"I think it's really good seeing all of the younger students getting up there with the seniors. Everyone has put in a lot of work," Alex added.

Another notable award went to Darby Prior who was awarded champion all-rounder, chosen from 28 schools and more than 500 students.

The award captures the essence of the week in beef, which educates and inspires young people to continue in the world of agriculture. The teachers are asked to nominate a student who they believe does just that.

"It was a really big pleasure and honour to have been awarded the Bill Hobbs Award. I really appreciate being picked," Darby said.

Mr Saul said seeing the students' hard work pay off is the best reward.

"We've had outstanding results from the students over the seven weeks we've been entering shows. Wingham Beef Week has really topped it off," he said.

"The students have done so well, I'm proud of them."
