Most of the 87 players found the going pretty tough as indicated by the scores.
The greens staff have our putting surfaces near their very best and over the next couple of weeks we can expect an even faster pace as they harden up.
Darcy Habgood is back in the fold as she takes a break from studies in the USA. Darcy produced a round of 71 gross to have the lowest score for the day.
Three other players had 71 nett scores and they were Mark Cooney to win C grade, and Joe Street and Peter Bush for first and second in B grade. Peter Farrell won A grade with a 75/72 scorecard to get the result from Eddy Penrose 83/72.
As stated, Joe Street and Peter Bush 88/71 took B grade while Mark Cooney took out C grade with Gary Tierney 101/73 the runner-up.
Others who played fair golf were John Nebauer 85/72, Stephen Carr 78/72, Graham Weary 82/73, Matt Allom 91/73 along with Dave Mattacott, and Don Wills an 105/73.
Ball rundown went to 76 with Dave Wilson and Kevin Mulhall to collect at 76.
Pins went to John Nebauer on the 2nd longest putt, Peter Farrell at the 5th, Bruce Berry the 8th, Dennis Ashton the 13th, Phil Mander took out Stu's ball at 15 and Chris Tinson will have a smile all week after taking out the pro pin at 18.
Thursday's round sponsored by the Nambucca RSL was our Dolphin Day competition with 76 starters.
Scratch marker Paul Habgood carded an eagle three at the fourth hole par 5 to help him win the day with a round of 39 stableford points.
Peter Farrell (4 handicap) won A grade with 34 points in a countback from Maxine Townsend (14).
Jan Harris was best in the lower grade in a countback with Don Atkinson.
The club's Island Sunday round sponsored by Deidre Byrne saw 42 starters taking part.
Coming out on top we had Jan and Geoff Harris with 43 points in the 4BBB.
Kevin Edmonds and Kay McGoldrick took second spot with 41 points from Linda and Warren Fuller, and Urpo Lyinen and Leeanne Welsh, also rounds of 41.
