The Kempsey local recently completed a Certificate III in Individual Support Disability, as part of ETC's Earn While You Learn traineeship program, while she was working at Kempsey Regional Support.
ETC's Business Relationship Manager for Traineeships, Ingrid Johansen said this was a huge accomplishment for Jasmin.
"The ETC Training team are very proud of Jasmin. She is a great role model for young Aboriginal women," Ms Johansen said.
Jasmin is now a Disability Support Worker and is also employed as an Auslan Support Worker with the Deaf Society.
According to Jasmin, her passion for the industry came about after supporting her deaf mother.
"I get an immense sense of satisfaction and achievement from the work that I do on a daily basis. I'm dedicated to improving the lives of my clients and I have the ability to communicate effectively with deaf and non-verbal people," Jasmin said.
Nominated as the Team Leader for Skills Development Days with Kempsey Regional Support, Jasmin helps to create and implement programs.
"I've also enrolled into further study - a Certificate IV in Mental Health, so I can appropriately support those clients who have mental health issues," she said.
"I'm proud of what I have accomplished in my short life. I was a single mother at age 16 with no formal education - to now having qualifications, employment and a strong professional network."
Juggling between family and work commitments, Jasmin also participates in community activities such as NAIDOC celebrations and Harmony Day.
ETC General Manager Training Karen Busby said that ETC was proud to help Trainees gain skills and a nationally recognised qualification while they work.
"We have been delivering traineeships for more than 20 years. This can be a great gap-year option and we offer the following benefits for our Trainees; availability to people of any age, combine training and employment, leave entitlements covered, opportunity for a career path or further study after completing their qualification, a nationally recognised qualification in Business, Childcare, Hospitality, Retail, Community Service."
The 2019 North Coast & Mid North Coast Training Awards will be held on June 14 at Opal Cove Resort, Coffs Harbour and is sponsored by ETC. The winners from this event will go onto the NSW Training Awards.
