A project initiated by the Coffs Coast Climate Action Group, the Flashmob is designed to bring more colour, singing and dancing to the Bellingen Winter Music Festival and to highlight the reality of the climate emergency we are facing, in a fun an interactive way.
Everyone is invited.
"If you can talk, sing, dance or clap, our planet needs you!" said spokesperson Marnie Cotton.
The group has taken classic Australia pub songs and changed the lyrics to highlight the climate emergency.
With generous help from musician Sarah Whitteron, who has facilitated the group, and body percussionist artist Greg Sheehan, the group has added easy moves that everyone can be a part of.
"This is the most fun you can have while making a difference," Ms Cotton said.
"We are continuing to see the dire consequences of the climate crises unfold globally.
"With the drought continuing to wreak havoc on our farmers, to Canada's permafrost thawing 70 years earlier than expected, it is time to use our voice and demand a brighter future.
"If you are feeling at a loss regarding what to do about the climate emergency, come along to our rehearsal and be part of something special."
Make sure you catch the Climate Action Flashmob performance at the Bellingen Winter Music Festival on Saturday July 13, (at 3pm, sshh) in Maam Gaduying park outside the library in Bellingen.
No ticket is necessary.
