They were the outcomes giving much joy with Tony's win with six-year-old gelding I've Got This at Tamworth last Friday and Cecilia's win with five-year-old gelding Classy Fella at Newcastle two Saturdays ago.
Tony in more than sixty years training rarely treks over the mountain to Tamworth and last Friday's visit was only his third, so his wife, Jean, and he decided that if they won with either I've Got This or Jexerlent they would make it special.
Looking in advance, Tony planned the trip by going to Tamworth on Thursday and coming home on the Saturday so that if there was a win, then a nice drink and meal in celebration would ensue.
"We planned a mini honeymoon and everything worked like clockwork," he said.
I've Got This ($6.50), ridden by Rachael Murray settled about seven lengths off the lead but where it mattered the Starcraft gelding was 1.25 lengths in front.
"We bought him for $5500 and that was his fifth win for us and took his prizemoney to over $100,000 (with bonus, nearly $107,000).
"I got him off the Matt Dale stable in Goulburn and he has been a good boy...a lovely horse to have around."
Jexerlent finished fifth but that didn't matter-the stage had been set.
Instead of a stroll along the beach and a Chinese meal after other wins, the scene for celebration was Tamworth.
