Bert played for the Sunrise football team and was pictured in the Argus in the team colours in 1952.
In the Sunrise team, Bert played alongside his five brothers; Les, Colin, Stan, Angus and Vincent.
Sixty-seven years later and Bert's descendants Royce, Shaydan, Leithem and Quenten Close are keeping the family traditional alive as they recently played in Aussie Rules grand finals for the Coffs Harbour Breakers.
The four talented sportsman contributed to their sides tasting premiership success, with Shaydan starring as he received Best on Ground on grand final day and Best and Fairest for his dominance throughout the season.
Shaydan, 19, and Royce, 21, helped lead the Breakers to a 104-76 victory in the A-grade game while Leithem, 16, and Quenten, 14, contributed to Coffs Harbour's 71-24 win over the Sawtell Saints.
Shaydan also made his debut for the Sydney Swans reserve team earlier this year.
Quenten also picked up the Best and Fairest with the Macleay Valley Eagles and captained the North Coast representative football team.
