The born and bred Kempsey local was nominated for the position by his peers, and with no other candidates stepping forward, the appointment was carried with no objections. The outgoing deputy mayor, Ashley Williams, chose to stand down from the position after two years.
"I feel very honoured to be nominated by my peers and to be deputy mayor in the final year of our council term," deputy mayor Pattinson said.
Serving on the council for the last seven years, the new deputy mayor has seen a number of changes to the organisation, and in his opinion, it has made the council have more of an impact in their role of serving the community.
"The establishment of the new team has been a real benefit; it's a completely different setup," he said.
"General Manager Craig Milburn and the team are setting goals and achieving great results for the community; it's just fantastic."
Kempsey Shire Council was recently praised for embracing the Small Business Friendly Councils initiative and for their commitment to supporting the growth of their local area. Their current term will come to an end next year, with elections set to follow.
