The local club will have a side compete in the Under-13s, Under-15s and Under-17s Nines Group 3/Hastings League competition.
Dragons president Reuben Jones believes transitioning the girls into short seasons of tackle rugby league is best.
"I think it's the perfect way forward for the girls. To get a taste of tackle rugby league over the space of five weeks rather than playing a full 12-week or more season from the outset," Jones told the Argus.
"I think most of the girls playing league tag have been interested in playing tackle for a few years now.
"I think they are really going to excel at it. We have a lot of talented young players."
The Dragons will step away from Group 2 Junior rugby league for the summer season but will return to the northern competition as usual for the winter season.
"Country Rugby League got in contact with us and told us to play in the Group 3 competition because it's ready to go so that's why we have moved," Jones said.
The first matches will be played on Friday October 18 at Wauchope. An opening day will be held on Saturday October 12 at Wauchope.
