Ms Britton of Raleigh St, Nambucca Heads, did not appear before the court and no plea was entered in the short mention for the matter. Bail was not applied for, but Magistrate B Thomas formally refused it.
Police are alleging Ms Britton arrived at the scene of an altercation between two women, aged 20 and 24, in the Nambucca Plaza shopping centre car park last Saturday night (September 28).
The 52-year-old mother of one of the women then allegedly hit both of the younger women with her car - which led to them being trapped under the vehicle.
Police allege the driver then left the scene.
Emergency services personnel and members of the public managed to lift the car and free the women, but both died at the scene.
Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and are requesting any information about a vehicle similar to a white Commodore in the area at the time of the incident.
Ms Britton's case will next be heard in Kempsey Court on November 20.
