About 9.40am yesterday (Monday), a 67-year-old employee was preparing to open a licensed premises on Bowra Street, Nambucca Heads when he noticed a man running from inside the building with a sum of cash.
The employee chased the 26-year-old, finding the cash on a nearby street.
The younger man later returned and agreed to attend Nambucca Heads Police Station.
As the pair walked to the station, the 26-year-old struggled free and ran.
Police officers located him on the corner of Bowra and Ridge streets and gave chase. A short time later, the man was arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station.
He was charged with aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence, and two counts of resist arrest.
He was refused bail to face Port Macquarie Local Court today (Tuesday).
