With the koala breeding season from now through to February, residents are encouraged to report any sightings of koalas to council to help define their distribution, population and trends in the Macleay Valley.
Council is interested in keeping records of koalas particularly the location of where they have been sighted in the shire to raise awareness of their habitats.
Council would like to know of the condition of the koala - whether they are healthy, sick, injured or deceased.
Data collected from individual sightings will provide council with valuable information that can be used to assist council with future conservation planning.
To report any sightings please fill out council's online koala records form by going to: www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/koalas
