From October 16, the art space at the Federal will display some of the stunning artwork executed by artists from this disability service. On Saturday November 26, come along for viewing and music around 2pm, then at 3pm, 20 varied works will be auctioned, and the rest are for sale at a fixed price.
The participating artists are Edward Barns, Tim Pearson, Marnie Russell, Olivia Dean and Guy Gibson, all from the Bellingen and Nambucca Shires.
There are a number of regular followers to this great afternoon of entertainment. The auction itself is a lot of fun as people bid enthusiastically for their favorites.
The artists are mentored and guided through their art processes, learning techniques, making decisions and choices to produce work described as delightful, crazy and remarkable. They produce paintings, paper mache and mosaics under the guidance of Louise Keogh, Susie Peake and Tanya McQuinn.
Where possible, the paintings have been framed using recycled frames and glass to promote re-use and this enhances the general quirky feel of the work.
It's a community event well worth supporting, as this is a way for these artists to actually earn a little for their achievements, and keep their activities going year after year. Self esteem is high at this exciting time for the artists, and usually every auctioned work is sold.
