The new citizens hail from three countries, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and India.
The group of eight were granted their Australian Citizenship after making the commitment to uphold the values, privileges and responsibilities of being Australian during a ceremony conducted by Mayor Liz Campbell.
Bruce Atkinson, Gudio Louis Gouverneur, Carolynne Parker and Jason Kloprogge from New Zealand, James and Marion Frazer from the United Kingdom and Thottamkara Biju and Neethu Liza Joseph from India were officially declared Australian Citizens at the meeting and welcomed into the Macleay community.
Mayor Campbell presented the recipients with their citizenship certificates and gift from the Macleay Valley during the ceremony.
"We welcome you as citizens of Australia and welcome you into our community," mayor Campbell said.
"Congratulations on becoming Australian Citizens."
