A recent trip for members of the Westport Travel Club Port Macquarie to Dondingalong demonstrated how close to home the drought really is.

This small area that's home to less than 700, located south-west of Kempsey, was incorporated in the Travel Club's recent monthly trip.
"After morning tea in Kempsey, we toured Dondingalong, Sherwood and Burnt Bridge. The country was very dry, not the rolling green hills we are used to seeing," Anne Gaffney, president of the Westport Travel Club, said.
"Our trip home was a little sombre as we pondered and reflected on just how tough it must be for this community and others affected by the drought.
"By the time the bus pulled back into The Westport Club we had decided that another donation from our raffle money would be given to support drought affected communities locally."
The Port Macquarie Lions Club was chosen by the Westport Travel Club as the recipient of their $1000 donation.
In accepting the donation this week, Mark Youngblutt, president of Lions, informed Travel Club members they are collaborating with the CWA and the donation would provide cash donations to drought affected families within the region.
This donation isn't the first for Westport Travel Club. Only weeks earlier the club donated $200 to Lifeline Mid North Coast and have previously supported Ronald McDonald House, Paige Leonhardt and Bennett Powell's Tour de Cure ride.
