The series, which has come under the Mid North Coast branch since the early 2000s, will now be affiliated with the Far North Coast branch.
The competition will now be known as the Far North Coast Surf Boat series but the schedule and teams competing over the summer period will remain the same.
The decision was made to change branches as a number of governance requirements weren't being adequately met, which meant the Mid North Coast committee weren't prepared to support the series going forward.
Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Boat captain Scott Edwards is relieved a solution was found and the season will go ahead but said there's no changes for the club and competition.
"There's no difference at all," Edwards told the Argus.
"We will just be run by a different branch, that's all.
"We will now come under the Far North Coast branch instead of Mid North Coast. Due to insurance, we need to be under a branch."
Edwards wasn't informed on the reasons behind the decision but is relieved there was a positive conclusion and the season will get under way in a fortnights time.
"I am not too sure of the reasons for the change," he said.
"I am just happy there is a solution and everything will go ahead."
The Kempsey-Crescent Head Surf Boat club are expecting to have five crews for the upcoming 2019/20 Far North Coast Surf Boat Series.
The local club will be represented in two Masters, the Open Men, Open Women and reserve grade divisions.
However, the ladies won't be in action for the opening round at Minnie Waters on November 2 and 3.
