The concert features the Macleay Choristers (formerly the Macleay Choral Society) and the Macleay Music Ensemble (formerly Kempsey Silver Strings) and this year will introduce a newly formed cello group.
The program celebrates a diverse range of music and songs including light classics and hits from the stage, TV and big screen.
Fresh from supporting the Kempsey Silver Band at the Bandbox Theatre recently, the Choristers will present some Broadway favourites including 'Lullaby of Broadway' from '42nd Street'; 'Old Man River' from 'Showboat'; John Rutter's 'Gaelic Blessing' and 'Shepherd's Pipe Carol' and the memorable 'Six Ribbons' in tribute to the late Jon English.
The Macleay Music Ensemble (a chamber orchestra) will offer an equally diverse program featuring music from Purcell, Schubert, the beautiful Nino Rota theme from the film 'Romeo and Juliet'; some Irish folk songs and the stirring theme from TV's 'Game of Thrones'.
Both groups will come together for the finale - the haunting 'Lachrymose' from Mozart's 'Requiem' and Annie Lennox's moving lament 'Into the West' from the 2003 film 'Lord of the Rings:Return of the King.'
Concert from 4pm followed by a light supper.
