NSW RFS public liaison officer Dave Nicholson said there have been reports of one home being lost.
"We have had reports of at least one house lost yesterday. We will be sending a team out to the area to confirm if it was a house or an outbuilding," he said.
"We didn't get the strong southerly winds at the fire ground which helped ease conditions last night.
"Firefighters actively worked to protect properties yesterday and with the cooler temperatures and less dangerous conditions today, crews will be actively trying to being the Carrai East fire under control."
The blaze has burnt through 75,629 hectares and is still out of control.
"Today and through until Saturday we have good weather conditions for active firefighting," Mr Nicholson said.
Residents in the area of Lower Creek and the area west of Kempsey are urged to monitor the situation.
"We are reminding residents to remain vigilant even though the conditions have eased today."
