The Andersons Creek Fire has crossed the Horseshoe Road and and is burning in bushland close to Darkwood.
It is now 7550 hectares and is burning upslope of houses and fire activity is currently low.
NPWS fire crews are currently working in the area and RFS crews are on standby to carry out property protection should it be needed.
Crews are on the ground at the northern end of the fire at Deer Vale where the fire has got on top of the escarpment. Crews are extinguishing the fire as it comes out onto grasslands and are available to carry out property protection should it be needed.
Conditions across the fire ground are being closely monitored and further resources will be sent to the area should it be needed.
Friday evening:
Residents in most corners of the Bellingen Shire awoke this morning to the reality of fire in the valley with burnt leaves and ash from the Andersons Creek blaze in the air and on the ground.
Last night the RFS reported the fire had spread under hot temperatures and low humidity and was reportedly spotting onto the escarpment south of Langtons Road at Deer Vale.
At about the same time the fire spotted to the southern side of the Bellinger River and east of Brinerville, something fire fighters had been hoping to prevent.
Patrols of the fire lines continued throughout the night and crews will return this morning to carry out ongoing firefighting operations.
Crews responded to reports of a house under threat at 2220 Darkwood Rd but did not find and assets under threat.
Crews also responded to a fire off Mt Browne Rd in the vicinity of Boambee State Forest.
Residents in all areas should keep alert and continue to monitor Fires Near Me app as well as ABC Radio for latest news.
RFS advised that with many narrow roads in the area, the safest option is to leave early to avoid congestion while fire trucks move into the area.
Thora residents attended a community meeting with RFS and NPWS staff yesterday afternoon - a report on that meeting can be read here.
