There has been 2mm of rain in the past 24 hours while 3.4mm fell last Wednesday (December 11) and another 1mm of rain was recorded on Tuesday.
Rain is predicted to continue today (Friday December 13) and continue into tomorrow before the temperatures rise and the weather becomes sunny for the following five days.
Meanwhile, the cooler conditions have improved the ability for the local firefighters to tackle the Carrai East fire, which has been burning west of Kempsey for months.
The Carrai East fire is now listed as being controlled.
The bushfire has claimed one life, dozens of homes and has burned through more than 146,000 hectares.
