GOOD rain fell on The Island Golf Course on Thursday, and the fairways showed immediate recovery from the previous weeks of hot and dry weather.

The competition was a Medley Single Stableford played in two divisions. President Geoff Harris (16 handicap) must have been inspired by the opening day of the President's Cup, carding the best round with 40 points to win Division 1 from Peter Moxon (15) with 37 points.
Division 2 winner was Dennis Holland (25) with 37 points from Keith Elphick (22) with 35 points. Paul Habgood showed his golfing prowess with an eagle on the 12th.
NTPs were not won on the 2nd or 5th. Rod Kinnear got the 7th, Paul Maxwell the 8th, Colin Habgood the 13th, Chris Thorndike the 15th, and the Pro Pin jackpot went to Paul Shuttleworth. Balls went down to 31 on countback.
Saturday was the club's Ham Turkey Day, sponsored by Greg McCoy - and a good field of 96 played a 4BBB Stableford. The hams were won by Thomas Robbins and Neil Duffus with 46 points. The turkeys were won by Gregory Smith and Chris Thorndike with 45 points.
NTPs went to Phil Mander on the long putt 2nd, Andrew McKinnon on the 5th, Neil Duffus on the 7th, Trevor Peter on the 8th, Andrew McKinnon on the 13th, Davis Mattacott won Stu's ball on 15, and Bruce Berry got the Pro Pin jackpot. Balls went down to 40 points on countback.
Sunday was the River Sunday Christmas Party two person Stableford (with a twist), sponsored by Lyn Grose and Steve Ward from A Pizza This.
Christine and Garnet O'Brien won the event with 35 points, from Jonathon Zirkler and Lyn Grose with 34 points. NTPs went to Trevor Peck on 5, Garnet O'Brien on the 13th, and Judy Boyle and Garnet O'Brien on the 18th. Players enjoyed a ham and turkey Christmas buffet provided by Kay Kel McGoldrick, Judy Boyle and Glenys Thompson.

This week will see the club's Open Dolphin Day Medley Single Stableford on Thursday, an easy nine-hole Chook Run on Friday, and a Medley Single Stableford on Saturday. Christmas week will see a Medley Single Stableford on Boxing Bay and on the Saturday.
