Mrs Marchment, who was diagnosed with melanoma at 24, completed the impressive feat of swimming 1168 laps of the 25m pool (29.2km) from 6pm to 6am.

Mrs Marchment was delighted to receive an overwhelming amount of support and contribute to finding a cure for the disease which kills an estimated 1770 Australians each year and a further 13,280 new cases are diagnosed.

"Everything went really well, it was amazing to have so many people turn up and get behind me by cheering me on and supporting my goal with a donation," Mrs Marchment told the Argus.

"I started out with a goal of raising $3,000 and I can't believe I have nearly raised $15,000, the support and generosity of the community has blown me away.

"I have received so much support and love from family, friends and community."

Mrs Marchment said all of the money will go to the Melanoma Institute Australia.

"I have always said how fortunate I was to receive the care I did when I was being treated for melanoma," Mrs Marchment said.

"I am grateful to be able to play a part in raising money towards a cure and people receiving great care too."

While Mrs Marchment was on a massive high after completing the 12 hour marathon swim.

"I actually felt fantastic at the end of the swim and its because of all of the support that I got, it was so heartwarming to receive it all and it pushed me until the end," she said.

"Together we were all able to make a difference and help the fight against melanoma."
